At home …

I’ve been playing around with my camera today, I’ve had it for months and still haven’t managed to get around to learning how to use it properly. So now is the time! I’ve signed up for a photography workshop starting in April with Beyond Snapshots and I’m so looking forward to it. It’s going to be great to do something just for me, no little people! Here is my pre-course effort – let’s see how things improve in the coming months …

PS. I think someone needs to clean the windows!

Industrial pendants

Love the look of these green pendants, wouldn’t they look great as a group of three in the kitchen above an island bench? Quintesential Duckegg Blue has these fantastic industrial pendants in green, white, grey and blue. Very cool.

Hallway Makeover

Here’s the result of our recent hallway revamp. The plan is to eventually have the shelves run all the way around the door. The best thing (well, two things) is that is has turned a previously unutilised space into storage, and it’s freed up a bookshelf that I have other plans for … stay tuned. Oh, there is one more – the Tord Boontje Garland light shade, but I’ll save that for another post.

Up and Coming Projects

I have a couple of new projects in the works, and I’m really looking forward to these ones. I stopped in at the local second hand furniture shop last weekend and picked up these beauties – a tall lamp and pine dresser. The dresser actually comes with a mirror which I’m going to use as well because it’s beautiful, but sadly the time has come for them to part. I used to be a bit precious about painting timber furniture, having grown up in a home with a lot of beautiful antique pieces and parents who stoutly refused to paint anything timber. That however, has changed. I can’t wait to take to these two with a paint brush.

Sam’s Nursery

The truth is, this room has been finished for months now, I’ve been trying to get around to taking photos but it just never seems to happen.

Overall the cost was pretty low, a splash of paint, new linen and blinds, and the table and vintage magazine rack – both second hand cheapies. I’m so happy with how it turned out!

Cot and change table: Boori

Paint: Nippon low-sheen in moonlight, sea foam, and

Linen: Dwell Studio Transportation

Patchwork Teddy Bear: Mama’s and Papa’s

Print: Sarah Jane Studio’s at Etsy

Book: Little Cat and the Big Red Bus, by Jane Godwin and Anna Walker
