Giveaway – Last Chance

Hi Everyone!

I hope you’re all having a good week.  I’ve managed to sneak a few moments away from the boys while Sam is asleep and Noah is playing with his trains, to remind you that our giveaway ends today.  Michele from Art Prints for Kidz is giving away a print of your choice, perfect for a Christmas gift or a birthday.  There are some really sweet illustrations. Go on over and have a browse.

I’ve been a little absent lately, I know! Blogging Your Way has been keeping me super busy, but it has been such a rewarding experience, one of the best courses I’ve ever had the pleasure of attending.  I feel like I have a little more direction now, as I’ve been floundering about with Two Little Dicky Birds a bit this year.  I have loved sharing all the gorgeous homes and things I love (and still do), but I’ve been blogging for over 18 months now, and I want to contribute more in terms of original content.  I hope you’ll all bear with me while I find a little nesting place, I feel like I’m still fluttering about here!

It’s really nice to see some new faces, I hope you find something here that you enjoy.  I hope I don’t scare all my old friends away!  If there is something you particularly like (or not), you can email me via the Contact Form above.  I love hearing from you, so please don’t be shy!

I hope you all have an enjoyable week and a relaxing weekend.  I have my first baby free night on Friday, I’m excited and nervous as Sam is not really keen very on the bottle, although at 10 months he is eating well and drinking from a sippy cup, so I don’t think he’ll perish while I’m gone.  I’m looking forward to spending a day in the city, shopping and catching up with a good friend before she heads back to New Zealand.

See you soon!

Train Theme Birthday: The Details

Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments and emails about Noah’s birthday party, and a big thanks to Cyd for featuring our party over at The Sweetest Occasion.  It seems to be party season at the moment, I know quite a few of you have been celebrating birthdays and anniversary’s.  If you are planning a celebration, take the time to pay a visit to Amanda at Homely One – she has put together some great tips for planning your next party, from choosing a colour scheme to the food, getting organised and encouraging guests to mingle.

I thought I would share some of the details of our little party.  As you can see it was a very small celebration, just our little family at home, which was nice and a bit more relaxing for Mum (me), who didn’t have to run around after lots of kids!

My Creative Space: Colour Inspiration Scrapbook

I’ve been trying to soak up as much as I can of Holly and Leslie’s cleverness over at Blogging Your Way, there is just so much inspiration to be had there.  I’ve just started a new scrapbook dedicated purely to colour.  As great as it is having all these files on my computer, trawling through images online is wearing me down a little, so I’m going back to basics and tearing up my ridiculously over the top magazine collection.  Sorry Real Living, it was nice knowing you.  Prepare for decimation.

Heirloom Chenille Cut Quilt

2010 seems to be the Year of the Baby for our circle of friends.  I guess we’re all around 30, most of us are married or engaged, and as is often the way, people want to start sprogging up.  Three of our close friends are about to give birth, two for the first time, so I’ve been wanting to do something a little bit special.  There are so many great gifts that can be given and I was hunting around for ideas when I came across this clever tutorial at Aesthetic Nest.

I’d never made a quilt before, so I was a little bit nervous, but Anneliese had written up such a great set of step-by-step instructions, I figured if I could manage to follow her tutorial, I should be okay.

The outcome actually exceeded my expectations, for a newbie, the steps are very easy to follow; I had no problems at all working my way through it.  Some of my lines are a little wonky, but you can’t really tell unless you look closely, and the chenille just looks fantastic after a burst in the drier.

So thank you, Anneliese, I so enjoyed making this blanket.  Now I’m going to make two more!

NB. The fabric I chose is Amy Butler’s Optic Blossom in Linen from the Midwest Modern collection.
