The Times They Are a Changin…

Wow, I just looked at my last post date and it was 6 weeks ago.  I’m not quite sure where that time went.  I wish I could tell you I had lots of great material for you, but I don’t.  We’re about to embark on a new era, which is a bit scary.  And exiting.  And overwhelming.

Our trip home to New Zealand was a huge revelation.  Every time I spend time there, it becomes harder and harder to leave.  This time I didn’t want to come back to Australia at all, which was a shock.  After a particularly challenging day, and a shameful melt-down phone call to my husband (at work, no less), it became pretty clear that something was going to have to give.  So, after what transpired to be a very short discussion and lots of second guessing, we are leaving our life in Kalgoorlie behind and moving back to New Zealand.

I’m so relieved that the decision has been made and the weight has finally lifted.  I think now is a good time to go.  We’ve been here in Kalgoorlie for 7 years.  It was the first place (bar Sydney and Perth airports during our transfer) I stepped foot in here in Australia and we have made a nice little life here.  Sometimes it has been hard, and hot (45+ deg – yuck) and lonely, but it has been a good place to make our start in the (grown-up) world.  It is a great little place and though I am quite ready to go, I will always be happy that we spent time here.

So it is with excitement and an overwhelming sense of “Woah, there is SO much to do”, that we embark on our next phase.  Please stick around, I may not be here as much as usual, but I’ll stop in as often as I can.
