30 Day Photo Challenge: Day 5

Day 5: From a High Angle

Sale at Gallop

I received a lovely email from Annie of Gallop Lifestyle the other day, commenting on the crochet rug that I purchased from the store a few months back, thanks Annie!  I love that rug.  It started off in the nursery, which then transformed to our office, the master bedroom and now our living room, it’s really versatile.   As Annie mentioned in her blog post, it can work just as well in a grown up room as in a kids – the latter of which is gorgeous, check out Annie’s daughters room which was featured in Real Living.

Playing Catch Up

Day 2: What I wore today

Yikes, this photo challenge is getting away on me already!   Here are a few to catch up.   I think they suitably reflect my lack of time.  It’s like handing in a half-finished assignment.  Late.

Did you have a nice weekend?  It has been raining here for past 3 weeks, and this weekend was no exception.  We had a garage sale on Saturday to offload some of the excess gear we’ve accumulated during the past 7 years.  Thankfully the rain didn’t keep people away.  We advertised a 9am start and sure enough at 8.30am to the minute we had a flurry of early birds through the door.  Luckily we had planned for this and were all set to go at 8am.  People are cheeky, aren’t they?  We hadn’t even put our sign up.

Day 3: Clouds

Yesterday, family down-time was the order of the day, oh how I enjoyed that.  A little calm in the middle of the relocation-storm.

We have finally locked in a moving day, so I have let myself get a little bit more excited today.  I’m trying to stay focused on all the stuff we still have to do – today and tomorrow is painting our bedroom.  I’ve thrown some test paint on the wall.  It’s charcoal.  I’m still a little unsure about it.  Because the lounge and nursery are both pale grey and pale blue, I’m worried I’m breaking up the flow a bit.  I love, love, love a black bedroom though.  Mick Jagger says Paint it Black, who am I to argue?

Day 4: Something Green

So, what did you get up to?

Oh, and, should I paint my bedroom black?

Living Area Reveal

Ta da!   One of the (main) reasons for my blog-absence over the past few months has been how bogged down in renovations we have been.  Every spare moment has been devoted to cleaning, painting, tiling, installing a new kitchen, painting, more painting … you get the picture.  The good news is that most of the house is now complete and I’m really looking forward to sharing it with you.

So, without further ado, here is the living room, finished.  And not a sign of Thomas the Tank Engine (hooray to packing, we are on a Thomas and Friends holiday).

One of the major selling points for me, when we purchased this house, was these windows.

I wish I had more time to add to it, I think living in a space for a while gives it time to evolve and feel a bit more lived in. I am really happy with it though, particularly the paint colour.  We are so crazy about it, we’re giving serious consideration to using it again in our new home.

Now, for the details:

  • Paint : For the walls, British Paints ‘White Albatross’; for the trim, Dulux ‘Vivid White’.
  • White Mirror – This was a 50% off Target find, painted in an awful cream and gold finish.  Hello white spray paint.
  • Doily Rug – A perfect example of how purchasing home decor magazines may lead to my financial ruin.  As soon as I saw that rug I was… hooked.  Crochet Lace Rug by Hooked Design, available at Gallop Lifestyle

I wish my house looked this neat all the time, alas this was for the benefit of our real estate agent…
